BREXIT Darko

Updated: Apr 24, 2019

Have you ever seen the fantasy film Donnie Darko?

As reality tv star Donnie Trumpo goes through yet another episode and Brexit counts down to oblivion, I find myself trying to make sense of this Mad World as we all wait for the airplane engine to fall through the roof and was reminded of the 2001 film Donnie Darko staring Jake Gyllenhaal and the count down of 28 days, 6 hours, 42 minutes and 12 seconds.

The film takes place during Halloween and the 1988 Presidential elections and sees a disturbed teenager sleep walking through a medicated state where he meets a giant nightmarish rabbit called Frank who tells him that the world will end.

The BREXIT countdown has been re-set to Halloween but yet it still seems to be synced to the Mad World sound track featured in Donnie Darko. Mad World is a 1982 song by the British band Tears for Fears and was written by Roland Orzabal and sung by Curt Smith.

The Prime Minister like David Cameron before her seems to think that they have some friends to appease in the UKIP, DUP and Leave camps but are they real friends?

How grounded in reality is Theresa May? @realDonalJTrump lives in a Twitter world where comments are made quickly and without any thought for their significance but is Theresa May some kind of Mad Hatter speaking in riddles as the clock counts down to zero? This May Madness ticks on even if Britain is running out of time to make a deal.

When it comes to Brexit, I would rather listen to Lord Buckethead who has rightfully if only jokingly asked if the UK needs a referendum to see if people want another referendum.

Lord Buckethead is a satirical political candidate with a costume so outlandish as to make the man in the rabbit costume in the film look perfectly normal. I guess we can't turn away from the horror show that is now playing

Why are you wearing that silly bucket on your head?

Has Lord Buckethead been sent back in time to save Donny Darko or Theresa May? What advice can he give to someone who has already missed two deadlines? What costumes will appear leading up to Halloween as Britons watch the clock countdown?

Is Lord Buckethead a real friend?

I believe Lord Buckethead's satirical message more than the Brexiteers who promise that everything is going to be better for Britain.

Lord Buckethead below suggests a referendum to see if England wants another referendum. Genius.

With so many questions to be asked, has parliament just become an unruly class?

As England spirals down the rabbit hole, I wonder what opportunities will be created from the madness but worry about the potential for serious destruction to Europe.

Is "Cellar Door" the most beautiful phrase in the English language like suggested in Donnie Darko and will Europe abandon English for French, Spanish, German or even Esperanto as only around 1% of Europeans are native English speakers once we remove the UK from EU.

What sacrifices will BREXIT bring to Britons in this uncertain timeline?

Will Belfast built a time traveling Delorean? Will they go back in time and save the Titanic?

I don’t know the answers to any of this but we may find out when the time runs out.

Here is the trailer in case you have forgotten.

LET ME BE FRANK: BREXIT could lead to one very scary Halloween.

BREXIT has absorbed countless hours of worthless negotiation that can never be reclaimed.

PROJECT FEAR: Interesting how many experts and institutions seem to represent Project Fear.

Hours and days will tick away but will May deliver anything new or worthwhile?

The date has been set: 199 days to prepare your Guy Fawkes costume for All Hallows Eve.

DATE NIGHT: It is a Mad World alright but sooner or later people will wake up.
