Two-Faced, throw the book at them

When someone can so easily copy and paste your account, we have to worry about internet security.

They are literally copying and pasting a known account that should ring alarm bells somewhere. As unusual as my name is, there will be a few people with the same name but none of them have copied by address, school, and photographs. Well, none that I know of.

Maybe we could verify accounts like Twitter, maybe we could Follow up on those fraudulent accounts but it is not up to Facebook to police the internet, they didn’t make their billions on such things and don’t seem concerned about publishing political falsehoods as pointed out by the Ali G and Borat actor Sacha Baron Cohen.

This poke in the face is not something new as many people I know have had their accounts mimicked in the past but it is the fact that Facebook hasn’t done anything to stop these false accounts which have been taking place for a few years now.

We are sharing far too much information, locations, date of birth and private messages.

Next time your bank asks for security verification just tell them to check your facebook account as they will find all the details there at a click.

Date of birth, tick, mother’s name who is a friend and a click away, tick, tick; even photo of pets tick tick tick.

We are at risk if we don’t take adequate protection and protection from a company only too happy to sell our data to companies and governments as the Cambridge Analytica whistleblower has demonstrated.

In one meme, a person compared social media with the dystopian novel 1984 and said,

“What Orwell didn’t predict was that we would buy the cameras ourselves and be disappointed if no one was watching."

Social media has given us so much in such a short time but while watching The Social Network, I wondered how we could all befriend such an unsocial person as Mark Zuckerberg as he was depicted in the Aaron Sorkin film in 2010.
