Over the past few years, I have used late night tv shows such as The Daily Show and The Late Show to get my information about the world. Despite being comedies, I have found that these shows cut through the bullshit and the spin to describe complicated political and social issues.
As ridiculous as that sounds to use satire as news, the news has become a sounding board for people like Donald Trump who push their agendas while blaming "Fake News" when they don't like a question that they are asked.
Since Trump's comments about injecting disinfectant where the sun don't shine, I have avoided watching such "sarcasm" and definitely prefer watching satire to Network News.
Breaking News
A few weeks ago, while watching tv, the show showed people stranded in different countries, unsure how they would get home. The program ended and I could see that it was The Travel Show.
A few days later I watched Bill Gates being interviewed by comedian Trevor Noah. The interview was about Coronavirus and I wondered what world I had landed on, where Bill Gates is on The Comedy Network talking about pandemics.
Last night as a meteorite passed by Earth, NASA joked that even the meteorite looked like it was wearing a mask.
Thank God that NASA scientists are still making us smile as doctors and nurses take a stand against people with guns and a Swedish student has taken a year off of school so that she can learn a little about what's left of the world and teach the world what we don't teach in schools.
Seriously, comedians have done more to highlight issues that politicians have chosen to ignore in the last few years, and a student has taught us more about tackling Climate Change than any scientist.
Up is down, black is orange, United is divided, the Moon is a part of Mars and alternative facts are broadcast as Kelly Ann Conway's husband entertains us with his jokes.
George Conway is by far the funniest lawyer since Jim Carey played one in Liar Liar and even today Jim Carey has painted a horrible image of the world through his satirical artwork as Jon Steward hammers home the needs of firemen, forgotten by Republicans.
No longer on The Daily Show, comedian Jon Steward attacked politicians while in the Senate.
Our roles have changed, teenagers are teaching science, and presidents are tweeting nonsense.
Greta Thunberg addresses the United Nations while White House staff, Dance with the Stars.
Whatever world we are on and whenever we walked through the Twilight Zone.
Thank you, NASA, you have always encouraged us to reach for the stars but maybe we need a Hitchhikers' Guide to the Galaxy for the next meteorite heading our way.
We can't blame the meteorite for passing us by and I wouldn't be surprised if a Planet of the Apes future didn't begin with primates putting their name down on a ballot and winning the primaries by banging their chest and throwing feces at their opponent.
Comedians are serious, scientists are funny and teenagers are trying to save the world from us.
MADHOUSE: Listen to the former leader of the N.R.A. Charlton Heston, it's a Mad House.
LOCK HER UP: Joe Exotic and others have kept more tigers in cages than the number of endangered species left in the wild. At the same time, Mike Pence's pet rabbit has his own Instagram account as the Trump Administration keeps children in cages. I hope they now have soap and water.
GIVE ME LIBERTY: I guess Lady Liberty shouldn't have encouraged all those immigrants to come to America.
DAMN YOU, DAMN YOU ALL TO HELL: Mike Pence is responsible for America's Coronavirus response yet cannot read the signs telling him what to do and what not to do.
