Saint Patrick's Day is always a colourful event and 2019 was no different here in Madrid.
First up on the calendar was a well attended Irish table quiz in O'Brian's bar on Thursday March 14th but I arrived late and missed any good photo opportunities. The bulk of my 1,400 Saint Patrick's weekend photos were taken on Saint Patrick's Eve when several teams travelled from Spain and Europe for the Madrid Harps' Invitational on Saturday March 16th.

The Ambassador came along to support the event and award the winning trophies after a wonderful warm day spent watching Gaelic Football being played in Madrid.

Well done to everyone who travelled to Madrid to take part.
There was no time to enjoy the night at the Madrid Harps dinner as I headed straight to Puerta de Alcalá for photographs of Cibeles and Alcalá turning green as part of the Global Greening.
In 2015, I got some nice pictures of Alcalá with a tricolour effect of the green monument with white lights coming from oncoming traffic and an orange colour from the tail lights. The Athlone Topic ran the picture last year in their Saint Patrick's coverage and this year I made up two canvases of the picture, one to present to the visiting minister and one for the Harps to raffle off at their dinner.
My own celebrations include a drop of blue and yellow food dye into a bottle of chilled cava.
A little drop of magic
Thanks to Martin Kirwan for these pictures with the Agricultural Minister, Michael Creed TD.

Every driver loves to see a green light in traffic.

The world turns green as this $150,00 electric car demonstrates next to Puerta de Alcalá.

Sunday was Saint Patrick's Day and events were held in both Buen Retiro and a picnic outside the city as well as throughout the many Irish bars in Madrid. Here are some pictures from the picnic in 2014.
